“It’s like something Trump would do”: Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones hits out at plans for new sequel

“So insulting. Like fuck us.”

The 2016 Ghostbusters cast

Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones has hit out after it was
confirmed that a third instalment of the original movies is in the
works.

The SNL comedian, who played Patty Tolan in Paul Feig’s 2016
all-female reboot, responded on Twitter after it was revealed that
a third instalment of the original 1980s movies will arrive in 2020
– directed by Jason Reitman.

Jones wrote: “So insulting. Like fuck us. We dint count.
It’s like something trump would do. (Trump voice)”Gonna redo
ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women
ain’t ghostbusteeeeers” ugh so annoying. Such a dick move. And
I don’t give fuck I’m saying something!!”

She also tagged her co-star Melissa McCarthy in the post, as
well as Reitman himself.

Her response comes after Reitman seemingly confirmed that Jones
won’t return, alongside her 2016 co-stars  Melissa
McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones
 would
play a part in his film.

“I have so much respect for what Paul [Feig] created with
those brilliant actresses, and would love to see more stories from
them,” Reitman said. “However, this new movie will follow the
trajectory of the original film.”

The 2016 Ghostbusters movie arrived in cinemas after facing a
calculated campaign of online backlash that saw its trailer

becoming the most disliked in YouTube history.

Jones was also forced to defend her role in the movie, after

facing a slew of racist abuse.

The new Ghostbusters is set for release in 2020.
