Caribou return from migration with first new song in five years

Instead of hibernation, caribou will undertake long migrations, traversing hundreds of miles in search of agreeable conditions. Which is to say, that Dan Snaith’s Caribou hasn’t been hibernating since 2014’s Our Love, it’s simply been migrating, in search of that next sound. Five years later, Caribou has at last returned with a brand new song, “Home.”

The track is funky and soulful, based around a loop of Gloria Barnes’ 1971 song of the same name. Whether Caribou’s “Home” will end up being part of a yet-to-be-announced album remains to be seen. But, it does feel like a logical next step in the constant progression of Caribou’s sound. Taking inspiration from different sources than its predecessors, “Home” still feels wholly informed by what came before it, more or less in line with what Snaith has done on every Caribou release.

Listen to “Home” — Caribou’s first new song in five years — at your choice of streaming services here. But OBVIOUSLY NOT before you check out the artwork down below, followed by Caribou’s upcoming slate of 2020 tour dates. Caribou, they love to migrate.
